Come and see which worship is right for you?

New format, New time for our early service!

Creekwood invites you to join us for one - or both- of our worship services each Sunday morning.
If you're a visitor, please stop at the welcome booth by the front door to collect your welcome bag filled with lots of great information and a gift for you!

Is the 9 a.m. service like the 11:00 a.m. service? Yes, in many respects. The 9 a.m. service includes the elements of worship that we as a church and denomination hold reverently dear. Those include greeting one another and welcoming our visitors, a children's sermon, the Lord's Prayer, scripture, an opportunity to give, communion, a message (sermon) and an invitation to discipleship.

How are the services different? The two most noticeable differences are the music style and the abbreviated time. The 9 a.m. service has contemporary music using instruments and praise and worship songs that are found in the Chalice Praise books or heard on mainstream Christian radio broadcasts. The music encourages the congregation to worship by participating and celebrating God through song. The service is structured to last just under an hour.

Sunday school for all ages starts at 10 a.m. Childcare/nursery is provided during all 3 hours.

So each hour on the hour at 9:00, 10:00, and 11 a.m., will be a power hour for Christ!

Can you SEE yourself helping a scout?

Girl Scout Emily Reed is working on her Gold Award project and has asked area churches to place collection bins for used adult eyeglasses. These glasses will then be given to the CCA Adult Health Center for their patients. So, round up any old adult glasses (and glass cases) and deposit them in the box provided on the Outreach Table.

You can read more about Emily's (and her friend Kristina Kave- formerly of Creekwood) project on the Outreach bulletin board.

Grief Ministry- What's that about?

Trietsch Memorial UMC and Creekwood have a shared community ministry to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one through a 5-week program called “Coping with Loss.” These free workshops give participants the tools to understand and manage their grief. What it doesn't do is end their grief. The class occurs four times a year - 2 here on Mondays, 2 at Trietsch on Thursdays, led by trained grief facilitators from each church.

Creekwood's current session began Monday, March 31, 2008 and ends April 28. After the second session, these groups close to new registrants.

Are you interested in learning more about this ministry? Are you a facilitator-wannabe? If so, please contact Kelly Parker, Barbara McCollum, or Beth at the church office.

Grief Seminar - Handling the Holidays!

Trietsch MUMC will offer a free special seminar on a Saturday late in the year. Date to be announced. Please reserve your spot with Trietsch at 972.539.8547.

Disciples Crossing is celebrating 60 years of camping!

Whether you know it as “ Camp Underwoood ,” “The Christian Youth Foundation,” “The Camp in Athens ,” or “Disciples Crossing,” — for many of you this camp has served as a place of refuge, a place of joy, a place of contemplation, or as a place of change. Come join the celebration on Saturday, May 10, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The planning committee is looking for people with a connection to the camp. Are you a minister who received God's call while participating in a camp or conference? Were you involved with the camp when it began? Were you in the first CYF Conference? Did you serve on the Camp Board at some time? Were you part of work crew? Have you been to every retreat ;your area women or men have ever had? Were you a camp counselor or director? The committee wants to know about your connection to the camp and invites you to share your memory or story — as well as join in the celebration on May 10! Email Reba at rcgibson1@verizon.net
