Spectacular Service Saturdays

This past summer, our youth missions served communities in urban Atlanta and suburban Ruidoso, NM. Part of the fun of mission is going somewhere else, and the youth ministries will continue to go out into the world to serve. However, there are people who need help, support and outreach in the greater Dallas area as well.

This year, part of the requirements for youth going on a mission trip is to complete at least three Service Saturdays—days of outreach and service in our hometown so that youth may pay it forward and make a difference here before they go out and make a difference there. Service Saturday Opportunities are listed outside of the youth minister's office. Next planned day is March 27.

Not completing three Service Saturdays before departing on the CYF or XP mission trip will forfeit one's deposit and spot on said trip.

If you would like to participate in a Service Saturday and are not a youth, or if you have an idea as to where we may serve, please contact Youth Minister Arthur Stewart.

Why registration is sometimes necessary for youth events

Our goal is to include all youth who want to participate in Sunday night youth group events, whether at Creekwood or offsite.

When we have events offsite, it generally requires securing additional parent-drivers ahead of time. Youth are asked to sign-up with Arthur at least 24 hours before departure, unless a prior deadline is announced. This means more than just saying in passing on Sunday or at LOGOS, “Hey, I might come to that thing next week.” Registration allows time to arrange for necessary drivers and vehicle spaces for the event. Every effort is made to have sufficient space for all attendees, including sponsors, and sometimes we get extra space, but sometimes it's tight. Occasionally youth will cancel and create an open space, but that usually isn't known until we start loading cars.

Help us never have to say “We don't have a seat because you didn't say you were coming and now we're full.”

·   Register early to Arthur! By phone, email, facebook.

·   Never assume “They know I'm coming” if you haven't told us so.

·   Come every time! Bring a friend. Register them too.

·   You count! So let us count you in for events that require drivers and planning.
